ASHEVILLE – U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner denounced the city of Asheville’s current Tropical Storm Helene draft recovery plan for including a diversity program that is at odds with President Donald Trump’s executive order to remove diversity programs from the federal government.
The city of Asheville released its draft plan for the $225 million Community Development Block Grant Disaster Relief funds on March 4, indicating the funds would be spent on resiliency efforts, water infrastructure and housing, among other things.
