ENDORSEMENT: Gov. Josh Stein Endorses Esther

Governor Josh Stein endorsing Mayor Esther Manheimer

“I stand with Esther because Esther fights for you, the city of Asheville, and all of Western North Carolina.” – Gov. Josh Stein

Why Gov. Josh Stein is with Esther Manheimer
Esther co-chairs the Governor’s Western NC Recovery Advisory Committee. “As co-chair of my Western NC Recovery Advisory Committee, Esther has been making sure that the state’s work to rebuild western North Carolina is grounded in the real and immediate needs of the region,” Stein said. “She pushes the state and federal governments to act with urgency, focus, and efficiency.”

  • Standing up for Asheville: When Raleigh and Washington overreach, she pushes back. She kept our water system in city hands, taking our case to the N.C. Supreme Court.
  • Affordability: She’s making room for working families to stay. 231 affordable homes are already created, with hundreds more in the works.
  • Public safety: Safer neighborhoods, with the right responder for every call. She backs the Fire Department’s REST team and swore in 20 new officers, many from our own community.
  • Recovery & jobs: She brought the money home, and Costco back. She secured $225 million in federal recovery funding, with 70% aimed at working neighborhoods.
  • A leader who delivers: “As Mayor, she works to make Asheville a place of opportunity for every person. Esther is a proven leader, a reliable partner, and a good person. I am proud to enthusiastically endorse her for re-election as Mayor.” – Gov. Josh Stein

Help finish what she started.
