ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Six million dollars will be going toward affordable housing in Asheville.
Asheville leaders unanimously approve millions of dollars for affordable housing efforts
Back in 2016, city voters voted in favor of a $25 million housing bond; over $18 million has been invested and leaders now have to decide what to do with the rest.
There was $6.5 million dollars left in the bond funds.
The idea was for $6 million to go to the Housing Trust Fund (HTF) and reserve $500,000 for activities on city owned land.
Council members were presented at Tuesday night’s meeting with the plan to allocate $6 million dollars to the HTF.
